HEALTH DATA RELATED HARM
The Health Data-Related Harm Framework provides a concise and comprehensive overview of potential forms of harm arising from inadvertent or intentional health data use, misuse, or non-use. Health data or information (contextualized data) is the substrate of all evidence-based decisions in health care. If data is unavailable, lacks integrity, or is misused, then evidence-based decision making can be hindered, potentially leading to individual, population, or health system harm. Identifying forms of health data related harm can inform optimized health data design, oversight and management, thereby promoting quality health programs and services.
The purpose of the Health Data Related Harm working group is to identify and set metrics that will permit the measurement of health data related harm. The particular focus of the group is on measuring human and financial harm arising from poor health data design and use.
